The Sunshine Award

June 3, 2013 By Mary Hill 10 Comments

By Mary Hill

I received great news recently that I want to share. It is really exciting news.  My friend Sharon M. Himsl from Shells, Tales, and Sails has nominated my for a Sunshine Award. Thank you so much.  I needed some sunshine in my life.

So here are the rules:
–Feature a picture of this award in a post on your blog.
–Answer 10 random questions about yourself.
–Nominate 10 other bloggers. Be sure to link to their blogs and let them know.

Ten Questions:

1. What inspired you to start blogging? My daughter, Megan.  She was on my case about not doing anything  just because of my arthritis and fibromylgia.  Her exact words, “You can do something.”  She felt like I was using my illness as an excuse.  She was partially right.  I hurt everyday, but still I shouldn’t just stop living because I retired and went on disability.  I can’t do much because of pain and other related issues, but I can type a few minutes everyday.  I know this is not much, but maybe I can make a difference somehow.

2. How did you come up with the name of your blog? Actually, an old friend suggested I use “Mary-andering” sort of a play on the word “meandering.”  I liked it so I took the suggestion and ran with it.  I really want to find a unique design for my blog too. I am working on doing that now.

3. What is your favorite blog to read?  I love Little Library Muse http://littlelibrarymuse.blogspot.com I love the interviews and reviews.  I also recently discussed some other blogs I love in this post:

4. Tell us about your dream job:
That is simple. I really want to create a popular blog that attracts many readers daily.  I am still learning how to do this.  I am officially retired because of my struggles with illness, but I still want to contribute something.

5. Is your glass half-full or half-empty?  My glass is definitely half-full. I am so excited about blogging and meeting others, learning and growing as a writer.

6. If you could go anywhere for a week’s vacation, where would you go?   I want to travel to Alaska or the Grand Canyon.  I would love to go a cruise too.

7. What food can you positively not eat? I hate olives and liver.

8. Dark chocolate or milk chocolate? I love dark chocolate. My favorite candy is dark chocolate M&Ms.  I like the peanut variety thte best.

9. How much time do you spend blogging? I spend less than an hour a day blogging. Reading blogs is another thing though. I love to read and I read several blogs and even try to add comments if I feel up to it.  I have a long list on Blogloving.  I just love reading what everyone else is up to. I love the give-aways. I love the writing blogs to which I use for inspiration.

10. Do you watch TV and if so, what are your favorite shows? Right now, I am hooked on Revolution on NBC.Here are the 10 bloggers I have nominated:

1.   Gi at http://trialsandtribulationsofgthefatty.blogspot.com.au/p/about-me.html  Her story is so inspiring and I enjoy her blog. I just discovered it in a blog hop.

2. THE WRITTEN WORD OF YVONNE LEWIS. Yvonne is always there with a sweet comment of support.

3.  Jenni at Story of My Life. She has awesome photography and offers great blogging tips.

4.  Mary’s Back to the Basics She was my first contributing writer at Mary-andering Thoughts and Issues. We share more than just a name. We love cats and standing up for what we believes in. I hope to continue growing my thoughts and issues blog too.  It is taking time though. ๐Ÿ˜‰

5.  Shannon Lawrence at http://thewarriormuse.blogspot.com/ for her great writing tips and lists of publishers and magazines accepting submissions.

6.   Rebecca Green Gasper  She has a lot of great author interviews and writing tips to share and she co-hosts Moxie Writers at
http://www.moxiewriters.blogspot.com/.

7.  Rebecca Giltrow at  http://rebeccahgiltrow.blogspot.com/p/about-me.html.  Another great site for writing advice.

8.  Tayla Tate Boerner of www.gracegritsgarden.com.  I love her outlook on life,  her poetry and photography. ๐Ÿ™‚

9.  Donna from http://mainelywrite.blogspot.com Please visit and learn about lobsters galore and boats and more… Don’t forget to click on her Poetry Friday link.

10.   “Skipping Stone” Memories Recorded Memories by Bea Sempere (Denise Baer) She writes so lyrically, and we both share a love of poetry.

Time has flown today. I will be back later to link up with some blog hops. Thanks everyone for your support.

Hi Mary! Congrats and great answers! =) I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for leaving a comment on my Charity of the Month post yesterday. I would love to do a guest post on it this month. You are a no-reply blogger, so I could not email you this. Just shoot me an email and I’ll be happy to put together a post. =)
