ProChoice versus ProLife : I Choose Life

This one issues continues to divide a nation. It is complicated and makes people on both sides of the issue intensely passionate. On this issue, I have a clear stance. Abortion is wrong and choosing life is right. 

Now with that said, I believe that if a woman is raped or a victim of incest the decison to abort the baby should be left up to the woman. I also believe that if there is a clear and present danger to the life of the woman, the woman has a right to decide on whether or not she chooses to abort the baby. If the life of the baby is endangered and the baby may not survive until full term, once again the decision of whether or not to abort the baby should be left up to the woman. 

All other times, I side with life of an unborn child. I know that an unwanted pregnancy can be devasting to a woman, but there is support for women who choose life. Organizations exist to help with costs associated with the birth of the child. Pregnancy Care Centers are located around the United States. If you feel you are financial unable to raise a child by yourself, adoption is a viable choice.  A great organization on the adoption choice is the National Council for Adoption:  https://www.adoptioncouncil.org/     The organization has launched a campaign to help women facing unwanted pregnancies learn more about the adoption choice.  You can find out more by visiting IChooseAdoption.org.

I know I may get a lot of negative feedback because of my stance on this issue, but I ask that if you disagree with me that you do so in a considerate and kind way.  I disagree with pro choice advocates, but I do not criticize them or belittle them.  I pray for them and hope that they will see that life is really the best choice. I know that there are well meaning and caring individuals on both sides of this issue. I agree to disagree, and I hope any of my pro choice readers will do the same.  As far as outlawing abortion totally, I do not agree with this as I stated for the above reasons.  I think when a woman faces these situations it should be a private health issues between her and her doctor.  

I also support the president’s stance.  We all should work together to promote self responsibility and to reduce the numbers of unplanned pregnancies through the equal availability of birth control options paid for by health insurance plans. 

We also need quality parenting classes on the issue of how to encourage our teens to behave responsibly as well as quality sex education for high school students.  I don’t think we need to go into specifics in elementary school because it is not a developmentally appropriate time for full blown sexual education. Middle school should be introductory with workshops and help for parents and students offered. I think parents can play a key role in reducing the rates of teenage pregnancy whch in 2012 accounted for almost 19.3 percent per 1000 women (http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/USTPtrends.pdf.) Better education will also bring the numbers down in older women from 20 to 25 which account for almost half of abortions in 2008.
