This post makes my second one in this hop. I am on a roll. Here are three books that I am featuring today. I bought the following books through the years from a variety of sources.
Author: Vivienne Bolton. Publisher: Parragon Publishing. 2003
Divided into eight sections, this book is for parents and older children and tweens. It is filled with fun activities to do together. For example, the “Nature” section has great activities like “Seedpod Jewelry,” “Making Ink,” and creating “Bottle Gardens.”
The “Kitchen” section, has great recipe projects like creating “Dough Baskets” and making “Fridge Magnets.”
My favorite section is “Cards and Wrappings.” Projects include making “Paper Gift Boxes,” and “Concertina Cards.”
I just love this book because of all the endless ideas in it.
In this book, famous tall tales are gathered and retold by popular children’s author, Mary Pope Osborne. Artist Michael McCurdy created the beautiful and detailed wood engravings. In this wonderful book, you will meet the old folk heroes of the United States from Paul Bunyan to John Henry. Osborne rewrites these old stories in exciting narratives while also providing the history behind the familiar tall tales.I can’t forget my cat fascination. I have also found a great cat book on my bookshelf to share. I think I will try to include one every week.
This book brings together another great author and illustrator duo: Jane Yolen and Hala Wittwer, respectively, in Meow: Cat Stories from Around the World. This book is filled with beautiful poetry and stories about cats from many cultures. The illustrations are so colorful and full of life that the cats seem to jump off the page. I don’t want to write any spoilers. Just trust me, this is a book you will want to add to your collections.
