Today is almost the first Monday of 2014. Well, the first Monday is just a week away. What better way to start a new year than with a new blog hop.
I know you are saying, “I already participate in a book hop on Mondays. Why should I participate in this one?”
I am glad you asked. I want this hop to feature great literature that is family friendly and inspiring. I love romance, mystery, and even fantasy books that meet the family friendly guidelines. I also welcome children’s and young adult literature Please do not include books with graphic or explicit language. Thanks.
Now on to what I am reading this week:
Goodreads Summary:
Moonless by Crystal Collier is Jane Eyre meets Supernatural.
In the English society of 1768 where women are bred to marry. Unattractive Alexia, just sixteen, believes she will end up alone. But on the county doorstep of a neighbor’s estate, she meets a man straight out of her nightmares, one whose blue eyes threaten to consume her whole world—especially later when she discovers him standing over her murdered host in the middle of the night.
My take thus far:
So far, I am intrigued by the mystery of just what type of person the main character may end up being. Mystery surrounds the family and magical powers may be in play in the gas lite world of the 1700s where women are acquired and bought through arrangements. Alexia has one year to find a suitable husband, or her father will accept a contract for her hand in marriage made by a wealthy old man. She can’t seem to focus on the task at hand because of dreams of someone with ghostly blue eyes.

I’m going to have to check this out! Right now, I’m on a quest to read old books and post the public domain ones on my site for others to enjoy, but it’s always great to get recommendations on what else is out there!
And you chose my book? I’m blushing, seriously blushing. But yes, it is clean. =) I want to add “Unenchanted” by Chanda Hahn, but I won’t have the opportunity to put up another post before your list closes.
Happy New Year, Mary!
Very interesting book cover! Thanks for sharing this. I hope you have a wonderful New Year filled with books and reading, Mary Hill! 🙂
