My Word for the Year: Connections

January 25, 2014 By Mary Hill 6 Comments

Friendship Friday

By Mary Hill

My friend Ramona over at Create with Joy has started the A to Z Friendship Challenge for 2014. I joined the challenge on January 10 and started with a look at the “Amazing” things God has planned for our Year. Then the next week my post focused on my desire for a New Year focused on the theme of “building” and “blending” my knowledge, faith, and family life to create a better, more focused life with Jesus at the center.

Now, we move on to “C” which gave me the inspiration for my Word of the Year, “connections.” It really all ties together.  I want to become even more connected with God, family, and community. I want to create and re-enforce stronger relationships so that I can win other’s to Christ.

Beth at Freshly Brewed Life provided the final validation of my word of the year today. I was brought to tears as I read her Five Minute Friday post on “visiting.”  She describe my ideal of connecting to a tee: Sitting down with someone and hearing each other’s “hearts as we share of hopes, dreams and passions still awaiting to blossom.”

I want to connect like that with Jesus. Like John the Beloved who sat at his chest listening to His heartbeat and His words of love and dreams of a forging a new covenant of love with His creation.  I want to connect with more blogger friends, exchanging our ideals and dreams. I want to encourage someone to except Christ and to see Him for whom He is: someone who loved us so much that He died for our sins so that we would see Heaven when we die.

I want to grow closer to my daughter in love and I want to set an example for her to follow. I want her to fall in love with Christ and create her own connections. I want to love my husband deeper and sweeter than ever before.

The year of 2014 for me will be about “connecting” and “connections.”

What is your Word of the Year?

I love this – I pray that God continues to grow and teach you as you focus in on connections this year. My word is faith – I want to start dream bigger, trust more and doubt less!
Thanks for sharing at Essential Fridays.
    Blessings

Wonderful word, Mary! Last year, my word was “abundance”. I guess it worked, because this year my word is “order”! :O)

Mary, my word is SEEK. It sure isn’t the word I thought I’d be focusing on, but it’s definitely the one God gave me. I had no idea there were Christian blog hops until I read this post! I can’t wait to check them out!

I love that the scripture “Seek ye first, the kingdom of God and the rest shall be added unto you.” Great word.

Mary, I’m so excited to hear about your One Word. I too would ask God to strengthen my relationships, both in real life and on line. We are not meant to walk this journey alone. Blessings!

I love your word! I too am working on building relationships and connections in my life. I have flown solo for too long – I see the value in connections now. Blessings to you Mary!
