My Five Songs That Speak to Me

May 28, 2013 By Mary Hill 9 Comments

Day 28, Tuesday: Five songs or pieces of music that speak to you or bring back memories.

This one is difficult. How do you narrow down all the music you like to just five songs  that speak to you?   I asked my husband his opinion and if he remembered the first song we danced to when we met almost 12 years ago at a dance hall called the Liberty Rose. I was not thinking about the music when I was dancing with him.  I had my attention on him. I love him so much. He said he thought it was The Tinman by Kenny Chesney.  I don’t like this song that much so it did not make my final cut.

So, I started thinking about other important songs in my life.

1.  My Heart Will Go On. Celine Deon.  My husband’s all time favorite song by Celine. He wants my daughter to learn to sing it.  It is indeed a beautiful love song.

2.  The Proclaimers, “I am Gonna Be. 500 Miles” from Benny and June with Johnny Depp. One of my all time favorite songs from a movie.

3.  Rod Stewart, “Forever Young.” I wanted to play this song in the delivery room when my daughter was born.

4.  Christina Aguilera, “Beautiful.” The message of this song is fantastic, and it is important for our young girls, especially my daughter, to understand.  I want her to focus on her inside beauty. This song also ties with the new American Idol Candice Glover’s “I Am Beautiful.

5.  Phillip Phillips, “Home.” The best song from Idol ever.  I love this song so much. This video was also awesome and conveyed the meaning of the song tremendously.  The song also applies to the tragedy in Moore, Okalahoma. I am sure someone will make a tribute video with it if they have not already done so.
What are your top five all-time favorite songs?  Is hard for you too to narrow them down?

Okay time to hop on the Facebook Frenzy Tuesday Blog Hop. Hope you will join me:
