Thanks for the link back! That would be an interesting dinner party, although it might be awkward for me. I never quite understood what Shakespeare wrote, but at least he never saw the confusion on my face. It would be harder to hide my facial expressions at a dinner party when he talks to me and I don’t know what the heck he’s talking about.

I’d like to have dinner with Emily Dickinson – in her younger years, before she became quite so reclusive and idiosyncratic. I’d like to have dinner with Sappho if a translator of ancient Greek could join us. I’d like to have dinner with Ernest Hemingway if I could cut off his liquor before he got too drunk. Maya Angelou would be a fascinating, sparkling dinner guest without any of these issues, so if I could only choose one, I’d choose her.
You mentioned Mary Shelley, where I live her son Percy Jnr. owned the land the house where my apartment is built. He also bought a Manor a few yards down the road which had a theatre. The manor when he lived there he used to entertained the likes of Lord Byron, Keats and Robert Louis Stevenson. H e bought the manor for his mother Mary but she passed away before she could live there.
She, her mother and father, Percy Jnr and the heart of Poet Percy Senior are buried in our local church, The manor is now our health centre and each time I visit there I can imagine as I climb the large staircase the history that place holds.
