Proverbs 16:3 – Commit thy works unto the LORD,
and thy thoughts shall be established.
Success, we long and strive for it. We want to be on top of the social ladder, the best in business, or the most popular blogger in the industry. What is God’s definition of success, however?
I often feel like a failure as a blogger. I don’t have followers in the tens of thousands. No, most months, my readership statistics lag below 1,000.
Maybe, I am not committed enough. I know I don’t post often. I know I struggle with issues of pain that get in the way of becoming a successful blogger.
I have to redefine success to fit my life. God knows my struggles. Maybe it is enough that I reach a small community of friends and followers? I commit my writing to Him with the hope that He will use it to encourage others.
What is your definition of success? Do you struggle with feelings of failure? Remember, God has a purpose for us all. If we commit our works to Him, He will take care of the issues of success. He will anoint our efforts and use them for His glory.
I wrote this post for Kate Motaung’s Five Minute Friday community where today’s prompt is: success.
I also will link this post with blog’s listed on my Linkup Parties Page.
I love your following statement Mary,
“Remember, God has a purpose for us all. If we commit our works to Him, He will take care of the issues of success. He will anoint our efforts and use them for His glory.” Amen!
The Nile starts with a tiny trickle of water & it’s one of the longest & largest rivers in the world! God bless our blogging trickles 😉

Success for me is obeying God no matter what.
Success for me is following God’s plan for my life above all else.
Success for me is using my gifts, talents, and abilities to bring honor and glory to his name.
Success means a lot of different things to me.
Feeling like a failure I believe is something we all experience at different moments in our lives but thank God we don’t live by our feelings but by the truths laid out plainly in his word. We are more than conquerors in spite of how we feel on any given Sunday!

Oh, Mary, I think this is an area we all struggle with! Success is knowing you’ve worked with your whole heart for the Lord and left the results to Him. An audience of one or an audience of one million, it’s all for His glory. And, while I KNOW that, sometimes I struggle to accept it. 😉
I hear you and resonate with your questions! And agree that in the end obedience to Him and committing my work to Him helps refocus me to real success.
If one person really gets it,
from something that I’ve written,
I will turn a somersault
like a happy playful kitten.
Life’s like a chain across a canyon;
that image isn’t bad, methinks,
and so long’s we don’t abandon
hold we’ll make it, for we are the links.
We only need to spread the Word
to a few, and let them pass it on,
and soon it will rise, spread toward
unseen shores as ripples on a pond.
That one reader may be the soul
that helps to make the world come whole.
I also have a small readership of my blog. However, I write because God has called me to it. If what I offer is meaningful to one or two people, then I guess it’s a success. Thanks for your post. FMF28
We are kindred spirits. I write too to point others to Christ and encourage women in their daily walk with Him. Thanks for stopping by.

Everyday in life. I feel like a failure because I march to my own drummer and people can’t label me, so a lot of people diminish what I do and have done because they can’t label me and I don’t brag about what I have done in my life or doing. I just go about things. In this day in age, the public doesn’t understand that.
I tell my kids, if you can pay your rent/mortgage, put food on your table, have a meaningful job (not just making money) and find things that you enjoy in life then you are a success.

Patrick, great thoughts. I do agree. We succeed when we take care of our loved ones. Thanks for stopping by and for your support.
