Let Us Gather Together

Tip: Hit play and listen before you read and then pray for the full effect.

Welcome dear reader. It is time to fellowship with Wednesday Hodgepodge participants. I love this hop. Here are my answers for this week:

1. What’s your worst food memory?  How about one of your best?

Worst:

+

My siblings will tell you this is the worse combo of food ever. I was trying to be a gourmet and decided to make barbecue spaghetti. Everyone went hungry that night.

I have so many great food memories, but my favorite one happened this week. My daughter loves my sauteed squash and zucchini. It isn’t anything special. I just dice squash and zucchini and saute it in a pan in butter, salt, and pepper. I use a special butter blend that is supposed to lower cholesterol and is made with flax seed.

She pretended she was on a Food Network channel show and talks about the balance of flavor and health benefits. “It makes such a pretty presentation of yellow and green.”  The next time I make this I am going to have to Vlog the whole thing so you can see her reaction.  I think this is a winning recipe if you are trying to get your children to eat more vegetables.

2. Do you appreciate people telling it like it is, or would you rather a person temper his/her words, and maybe beat around the bush a little? How about when you’re the one communicating…which type are you?

Right now, I am super sensitive. I know those going through menopause will understand. With me if you want to survive, you’d better temper your words and beat around the bush.  Now, I can’t return  the favor because I am likely to go into a menopausal spill on you if you set me off just the right way. My husband says he can’t win for losing because before I could use my montly as an excuse for my ill attitudes. Now, I have a 24/7 excuse. Don’t you just love being a woman? (All kidding aside remember God call us to kindness and love even when using our tongues. 🙂

3. What’s your favorite place to hang out?

My couch, writing and reading.

4. When do you most feel like you’re a slave to time?

I don’t feel like that right now.  I am blessed with time and love.

5. What was the last concert you attended? Who’d you go with? Was it any good?

The last concert I remember is Tina Turner’s World Tour 1987.  I attended on November 8, 1987 the University of South Carolina’s Coliseum. Remember, it was billed as her “retirement’ tour  way back then.  It was great so if I have gone to another concert since, it couldn’t have been too memorable.

6. Reality TV…harmful or harmless? What’s your guilty pleasure when it comes to reality TV?

Harmless, but it not my guilty pleasure unless you count Food Network’s Chopped or Worst Cook in America as reality TV. I love most of Food Network’s competition shows.

7. What’s something you think is overrated? Other reality TV shows like “Big Brother.” I just don’t get it?  Do you? Why do you like reality shows?

8. Insert your own random thought here.

The reason I like this hop is because it ties into my blog’s mission statement. I am working on writing a mission statement as recommended by Christian Mommy Blogger. If you have not been to this site, you need to visit. The resources here are simply great which is why I have joined their affiliate program.  My link is below.

I plan to unveil my mission statement soon, so stay tuned.
My scripture verse for today:  Philippians 4:11-13

Philippians 4:11-13

King James Version (KJV)
11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
The call to contentment no matter my circumstances is one of the hardest things for me to fulfill. What do these scriptures mean to you today? Share your thoughts too?  Let’s gather together and support one another.

Any special prayer requests? Feel free to put them in the comments. Even if you put in an “unspoken,” I will pray for you. Even if you don’t fully share my faith, I want to be an encourager to you too.  I will pray for anyone and everyone. Thanks.

I love Chopped too. Sometimes my daughter chatters her way thru a dish preparation as if she were on TV. She could have her own show, it’s so cute! I can see the appeal of some of the reality programs, but definitely do not get Big Brother!

Hi Mary! I love the bloghop too, because I can learn so much about the participants!

I think the mission statement idea is such a good one. It will be fun to see what you come up with. Reality TV? Don’t take away my Duck Dynasty now, I love that show!

    Happy Wednesday!

    wow bbq & spaghetti!? O_o
I agree with the hype of reality tv! I do like Masterchef though! I gave up on American Idol, it just got too maddening when my favorite got voted off even when i voted 20 something times. I also am not a fan of Big Brother, Game of Thrones, or Downton Abbey like everyone else.

BBQ spaghetti? Yikes that’s not a good mixture at all, but I can see why you gave it a go.

    Have a terrific day. ☺
