I encourage you to look into participating in this March challenge even if you are not an educator. Bloggers are writers. We all have children in our schools. Writing is an important part of everyone’s life whether you are a professional writer or not.
What is the Slice of Life about? The title, I think, describes it best. You capture an ordinary moment of your life in a descriptive, creative way. You capture that moment using all your senses so that others can share in it. So in March, I am going to practice capturing slices of my life.
Then in April, I am rejoining the #AtoZBloggingChallenge. It is just as the name implies. You pick a theme, and you blog Monday through Saturday every week or 26 days from A to Z. On April 1, you blog about an “A” related word to your theme or subject. You can sign up for the challenge here. I even signed up to help with the challenge. I don’t know what that means exactly. I must be delirious or a nut to take on such a job. I know I am unconventional because I joined the most unconventional team of all. Here is the badge for my team:
My team boss is the Unconventional Librarian. I thought it would make sense that I join a like-minded individual to help out with the A to Z April blogging challenge.
It really is a great challenge to your creativity and imagination. Plus, literally thousands of bloggers sign up every year which will increase the traffic to your blog. I also love making new friends and finding new blogs to read. I grow my blog readership as well. Last year, I went from just about 20 readers to nearly 200 in just that one month!
What challenges are you thinking about joining in the next few months? Please share your links to them below in the comments.
So my crunch time is coming quickly. In less than two weeks, I start slicing and then in less than six weeks, I start writing A to Z. Can I do it? I hope so. Will you join me?
Speaking of blog hops. I am joining these hops today:
This week’s prompts: crunch or delirious.

Hi Mary. Good luck with both your challenges. I am not sure I am capable of two months in a row of blogging everyday but I will check out the slice of life and two writing teachers, and at least read some of the posts.
It’s challenging yes… But you can definitely do it… I am gearing up the posts for april 🙂
Yes, you CAN!! 🙂 April looks so very exciting!! Am sure we will have super fun doing this A to Z Challenge. Good luck for your March Challenge too 🙂
How fun to find your blog. I reserve April for writing a poems day.
Thank you for sharing those challenges with us here at “Tell Me a Story.” I can see this is quite a challenge ♥
Wow…very impressive. Have fun!
Yes, you can! Yes, you CAN! Hopping over from the G+ A-to-Z community to say hi and add your blog to my Feedly–love it! That March challenge sounds awesome, and I’ll keep an eye on it, maybe join next year. This year, what with minioning for Team Damyanti (I’m a first-time A-Z co-host helper, too!) and the Theme Reveal ‘fest, plus an ongoing year-long project with an Australian publisher ( A Hop Within A Hop: The A-Z Theme Reveal!
Well, I was thinking about joining the A to Z challenge. I am not sure if I want to join to any other memes because I don’t want to have to worry about completing them all and might have others things that I need to do.
I agree everyone can be a writer if they want to, regardless if they are professionals, or not. I think everyone who writes is a writer. : )
I did AtoZ last year…it was fun! I dont think youll regret volunteering.
Yay, so glad you are joining us for the challenge!
I think you can do it Mary. This is my second year taking part in A-Z and I’ll look into education challenge.
You’ll love your month of slicing. This will be my third year to participate. I can’t believe that you’re taking on the A to Z challenge too. You will have so much fun – it’s good that you’re retired.
I know. I am disabled and writing is all I have left because I can’t get around much or out much with mobility and pain issues on daily basis. I am glad I have blogging to use as a “crutch.”
Hi Mary,
Wow, two blog challenges coming up here, huh? Good for you! 🙂
Re your comment on my post “Shh, They’re Playing Your Song,” ….”A special song for each of us” is a nice way to put it. Thanks.

I love your blog. What an inspiration for us all to get busy and blog. Writing is such a huge part of life and a wonderful way to get out emotions and thoughts that some of us can’t express verbally. Can’t wait to see more from you.
With time crunch you chose a great theme for today’s TST post, Mary! I think most of the bloggers I know struggle with that issue. I love to blog daily and rarely find the time/energy at the end of day, and even less time to read and comment on all the blogs I love. I fantasize about being retired and able to do so… maybe someday! Slice of Life sounds like great fun, and a great way to challenge one to write more descriptively. I am a past A-Z participant and plan to do it again this year. THanks for providing the sign-up link! It requires a great deal of dedication to follow-thru the entire month, but it’s fun to share in such a wide-spread blogging effort. I totally enjoyed myself last time. I wish you great fun with your blogging challenges in the two months ahead, fingers going click, click, crunch on the keys is a nice sound! 🙂
Wow, Mary! Your writing schedule definitely sounds like it will be a busy one! I have taken on challenges in the past, but I started working again recently, after several years of staying at home, so I’m more cautious about how much I take on. I want to check out the “Slice of Life’ challenge, as it doesn’t sound quite as demanding. I had originally posted about 2 times a week on my blogs (I have 2), but had to cut back to once a week, and even have not posted on my second blog in several weeks. I really want to get back in posting twice a week again on each! Your post really encouraged me to get motivated and start blogging more again, even if my posts are shorter than usual. God bless!

I think the “slice of challenge” sounds the easiest too. Good luck. I will definitely follow you if you do the hop. 🙂
You are going to be very, very busy. Thanks for the information about the Blogging A to Z Challenge.
Welcome. I hope you can join at least one of the challenges.
