Welcome to my Friday. It is my busiest day of the week on my blog.  So much to get to and so little time. So, let’s go: worship, fellowship, and encourage one another. That is my mission at Mary-andering Creatively:   honor and adore my Savior with my writings and find others to encourage and with which to fellowship.

This week’s prompt: RED

8:25 a.m.
A song comes gently into my mind as I think of the color “red.” It is an old Petra song. Have you ever heard of Petra. Petra is one of the first Christian rock bands from the early 1980s. “red is the color ….” I can’t remember the rest of it, but I hear the melody in the back of my mind. I know it was “red is the color of the blood that was shed for you.” I think. I picture red for redemption and sacrifice. Red is what was needed to save you and me. But that blood was much more than a “get out of hell” card. I didn’t accept Jesus to get out of going to hell. I accepted Him because there was a melody in my heart, warm and sweet, that wanted to sing for Him.

Jesus wasn’t just a man who died on a cross so many years ago. He was God who decided to give up all the riches of heaven to come to earth to walk with us, talk with us and love us. He wanted to make a way so that we could find Him. So many people think Christians are intolerant because we believe there is only one way to heaven and that God would send those who do not accept this way to Hell. I believe that but God is so good that He is going to make a way for you today. Just believe and find his Love which is more priceless and valuable than any “get out of Hell” ticket.

I keep returning in my thoughts to what I have written above. God is a perfect God of Love. His will is that none should perish. There is a gentle tug in every heart toward Him. It is simple.  I have been confronted for my faith and even called intolerant.  I am not. If you can’t believe as I do, I say go in peace. God loves you and so I no matter your faith. God has His timing for everything. I put my faith in Him. He knows best for all of us.  

The idea of someone loving me enough to die for me is something I cling to like a life raft.  He put it all of the line for us. I wish we could all love each that way.  The world would become paradise. If we are willing to die for someone, the last thing we would do is to kill because we want what others have or because we think we are superior and all others deserve to die. We would have a mindset where everyone is worthy of love, worthy of our sacrifice.  We would only want the best for each other. Imagine a world were we felt that way about each other.  That is the message of Christ on the Cross.

Five Among Friends


Now on to the Fellowship and Encouragement

Last week, I found a small group of ladies who decided to get to know one another better by posting five weekly questions for each to answer. Each week a new friend has to come up with the questions. The questions for this week are by Janine from Janine’s Confessions of Mommyaholic here they are:

1. What is your favorite part of the fall season? I love the changing leaves, scarecrows, wreaths and special decorations. I also love high school football.

2. What TV show are you looking forward to watching now that the fall is almost here
and the network TV shows are coming back for the season?  I am looking forward to the show Ironside on NBC and I can’t wait until Revolution comes back on. I love that show. 

3. What is the favorite part of your day?  I love evenings and early mornings when the house is quiet and I can write and concentrate.

Fly Away4. What is the last book you read and would you recommend it? Fly Away by Kristin Hannah. This is a sequel so you have to read first:  Firefly Lane. I loved it so much better than the first book. The first book left me hanging and sad; so, I knew there had to be a sequel on the horizon.  The books tell the story of an awesome friendship of two women, Tully and Kate. Their friendship starts on the lane where both girls lived as teenagers. They grow into young adulthood together and both enter the world of broadcast journalism. Kate is shy and becomes a mother while Tully’s career rockets her to stardom.  The two remain inseparable until tragedy and misunderstandings tear them apart.  Fly Away picks up after the tragedy and details how Tully and Kate’s family deals with her death.  It is so sad to see a family and lives torn apart by grieving, but this story delves into the realistic side of loss and learning to move on.  Other subplots come together in the final book. Tully’s mother abandoned her as a young child. She became a drug addict, leaving Tully to grow up motherless and fatherless.  Will the two women ever find each other and can Tully forgive herself and others for the shortcomings with which we all face, fear, and struggle?  You will need a whole box of Kleenex to read this wonderful story.


5. What is your go-to recipe when all else fails?  I am still trying to perfect Loaded Baked Potato Soup like at O’Charleys.  I have tried several recipes but each need tweaking. I just think that soup on a crisp cool autumn evening hits the spot and is the true comfort food.

Wipe out poverty and war in a sweeping blow.  I want what is happening in Syria to stop.  Children dieing and our President ready to strike a terrible blow that will lead to the deaths of so many.  We can’t not act. But how can we act in the spirit of Martin Luther King and Ghandi. More importantly what would Jesus do?  Pray on our knees that God intervenes and Love prevails.  Amen.

This week’s Friendship Friday word:  Change


Fall is a time for Change
The time of brilliant leaves changing color 
As a year comes to an end
Change as a new school year begins
Change as we embrace the new and old
And we cling to our love for one another and all that is Good

  10. Hi Mary! There sure is a lot to chew on here this morning. You are full of inspiration…and it inspires me.

    I love early mornings and the night in the quiet too. Too much noise makes me a little crazy.

    I think there are intolerant Christians, just like there are intolerant grocery shoppers. We are all human. But it’s so good to not join in. I like your response of “go in peace.” We don’t know what God’s timing is. We also don’t know what peace we can give when we act peacefully.

    My comment is a little random, but you had so much to reflect on today 🙂

  11. I love Kristin Hannah and haven’t read either of those books and from what you said definitely would love to read. And also loved the way you ended the sentence this week and think something definitely needs to be done to stop all the suffering. thanks as always MAry for sharing and for linking up with us today!! 🙂
