Great Giveaway and Review of Sweet Christmas Tale

November 12, 2013 By Mary Hill 8 Comments

By Mary Hill

Can you feel the cold crisp air as the holiday season approaches?  I have yet another giveaway opportunity for my loyal readers. Details are below.

All November, my blog focus has been how parents can encourage early literacy skills necessary to prepare their children for school. Studies show that the more stories that children are exposed to the more successful they are as students in later life and the more likely they are to become lifelong readers.

I jump at the chance to promote reading and quality stories that young children will love. Promoting this book is a win, win too because by just reading my review you also get the opportunity to participate in a great giveaway of an extra $50 for the holiday season. 🙂

First About the Book

The Christmas Owl by Angela MuseTitle: The Christmas Owl Author: Angela Muse Illustrator: Helen H. Wu Publication Date: November, 2013 Publisher: Independent – 4eyesbooks Number of pages: 36 Recommended age: 3+

Summary

A Barred owl becomes injured and must ask others for help. He promises to give back to those who have a generous heart, and he is true to his word. Also check out Lil Glimmer, The Nutt Family: An Acorny Adventure, The Pig Princess, The Bee Bully, Eager Eaglets: Birds of Play, Cactus Charlie, Suzy Snowflake and Monsters Have Mommies by this author.

My Review
What made this book special for me were the quality illustrations drawn by Helen Wu. I love the deep, rich colors in the illustrations. The animals were also very lifelike. Angela Muse’s narration was simple and sweet. The story of the injured young owl was told using a mixture of rhyme and rhythm. He meets creatures that normally fear him, but they open up their homes and hearts to the young, injured bird so that he can stay the night to mend. The story in the end reveals the truth of how true love and charity is rewarded with lifelong friendships.

About the Author: Angela Muse

Angela Muse, Author Angela Muse
I was born in California to a military family. This meant that I was the “new kid” in school every couple of years. It was hard always trying to make new friends, but I discovered I had a knack for writing. I began writing poetry in high school and really enjoyed expressing myself by using pen and paper. After becoming a Mom in 2003, I continued my storytelling to my own children. In 2009 I wrote and published my first children’s book aimed at toddlers. In 2012 I am set to release several more children’s books. Check out what I’m working on by visiting my children’s book blog. Writing is such a wonderful creative process and I look forward to sharing more of my stories with lots of new little readers!
