Great Book for Mother’s Day with a Great Mother of Giveaways!

Motherhood is a hard, demanding job with lots of tears, frustration, and …. laughter, love, and happiness. We, mothers, are the most unpaid workers in the history of all the world.  One book that I have read recently highlights those hectic, crazy years: The Mother of All Meltdowns.

I identified with so many stories in this book. I especially connected with the story As Poop Would Have It by Natasha Peter, writer of the Epic Mommy Adventures  blog. She hilariously describes a terrible moment with the dreaded poo. Her story had me rolling.

I have had one of those terrible moments myself. Mine meltdown started one morning when I was potty training my daughter. I had her on a schedule to put her on the potty, but this one time her body did not go according to schedule.  I went to take down her pull-up, only to discover that she had already completed number two.  She was standing when I was starting to pull down the pull-up.  When I saw the balls, I gagged and said, “Oh, Katie Rose.” I started to pull up her pull-up and was preparing to change her, when my then two-year-old decided to take off down the hall. As she ran, little balls dropped, leaving a nasty trail. I ran down the hall in what felt like a slow motion tantrum. “K-a-t-i-e R-o-s-e   s-t-o-p. O-h, n-o.”

As bad as my “mother of all meltdowns” was, it really doesn’t compare to Natasha’s funny story. At least I didn’t have to buy new carpet or furniture. Really, you have to get this book on Amazon for yourself to read this hilarious tale.

Of course, the meltdowns don’t stop once the children have grown out of toddlerhood.  They continue throughout the years as Karen Blessing, author of Baking in A Tornado blog, shares. Her meltdown involved cell phone video taping.  

I don’t have anything that has happened yet with my now 11-year-old daughter that compares. Although she had a meltdown when I found this really funny video she made on my cell phone and shared it with our family on Facebook. She thought I had posted it for all my friends, but alas, I had only posted it on our private family Facebook page.
