Good Bye Christmas and Hello New Year: 10 No 12Things of Thankful for 2013

Ten Things of Thankful

1. January 2013 — It was the start of the New Year, and I opened a blogspot account at: http://marykatbpcsc45.blogspot.com/2013/01/americas-political-crossroads.html . My first focus was on issues that I felt strongly about.

2.  February 2013 — I felt my first blog was not “creative” enough; so I decided to start this blog.  I loved it from the beginning. I enjoyed delving into writing creatively about poetry, daily life, and joining blog hops focusing on specific themes. My blog grew slowly those first months, but I went from just 20 readers to more than 100.

3.  March 2013 — I discoverd BlogHer and decided to join the April A to Z Blogging Challenge on both blogs.

4.  April 2013 — Participated in the A to Z Blogging Challenge . The brainchild of Arlee “Lee” Bird, the challenge has been in existence for five years and grows larger every year. My blog readership grew even larger this month to over 150 readers.

5.  May 2013 — Health challenges knocked me for a loop.  I had to have five iron infusions because of anemia. I came through it all stronger and more determined to write and blog.

I was a proud momma too this month because my daughter performed in her school talent show.

6.  June 2013, I learned to blog hop and participated in giveways and my blog grew to more than 400 readers.

7.  July 2013 . The summer was hot but historic because of the large amounts of rain we received in the South. We had a mild summer too and it never got above 95 in South Carolina. The year before we had 12 days of 100 plus degree weather.  Talk about hot.  I so enjoyed our “cool” summer.

Our state had to open flood gates on our dams to release water because of the huge amounts of rain we were receiving.

8.  August 2013.

First came our short vacation to Charlotte:

Then time for back to school for my daughter.  I missed her as she returned and I started to stay alone again. On the plus side, we had a new house dweller move in : our future son-in-law.  He is well loved by our pets.

He really works hard. LOL 🙂

9.  September 2013: Fall took a long time to arrive, but we enjoyed walking in the woods, meadering fields looking for nature’s beauty on lush Saturdays.

10. October 2013

We held a birthday celebration for my 11-year-old daughter who enjoyed Mexican food and dancing. 🙂

11.  November 2013  We took a a special fall excursion into the mountains.

12. December 2013 — The holidays, school programs, piano recitals, family fun and parties.

The year has come and gone in a blur. Now on to 2014.

You’ve had some gorgeous things happening in your year, Mary. I’m so glad you’ve shared them with us and been such a consistent part of the TToT so that we’ve been able to see many of them happen ‘in real time’ 🙂 All the best for 2014

Such beautiful photos of your family! It looks to have been a fun year. And a productive blogging year, too! You’ve come a long way. I,too did the A to Z challenge. It was a great exercise, and I met lots of good folks through it. Don’t know if I’ll have the time to do it this year, though.
Your daughter did a marvelous job for the talent show!

congrats on all your growth! The photo with the needle in your arm almost did me in. I can’t stand needles, but I did like the fact that you and your family like to see new places (since that is one of my fav pastimes). Happy 2013. Looking forward to 2014.
