Five Minute Friday: Write

February 7, 2014 By Mary Hill 5 Comments

Five Minute Friday

Join me on my weekly adventure where I join this flash mob of writers who tackle a single word provided by Lisa Jo Baker and write a post about what the word inspires. The goal is to write about that word for five minutes without backtracking or correcting. After you write your post, you link it up at her Five Minute Friday site.  Then you read other bloggers five minute writings on the word of the week and then you leave encouragement for them in the comment box.  It is a love fest of writing and sharing.

This weeks word: write

11:35 p.m. go

A preacher once answered this question:  How do you know if God is calling you to do something?  His answer seemed so simple: Go three days and try not to do that something, If that something is like breathing to you. It gets in your being and want let you go and you can’t think about going three days without doing it and then chances are it is God calling you.

It is like that with me and writing.  I stay up some nights just try to write. I am tired and my eyes will close. I look back over what I have written and it looks like gobbily gook, making no sense what so ever. I highlight it and start over only to dose off again and type more gibberish. I know it is time to turn the computer off and there is this big regret in my chest. I wanted to write more.

There are days when I can’t even think about what to write. I just starte at a blank screen and start typing. I meander around until I find that thread and take off.

My best writing happens when I pray. When I just turn my fingers over to the Holy Spirit and let Him take over the keys and write what He wants me to say.

I want my writing to touch, to encourage, to embellish, to bring Glory to God. To point others to Christ. Please read my writing and find Him. Don’t miss Him. He waits with a sweet call and He wants to bring you abundant joy.

I can’t not write. I have to share His message of hope.

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God. Words are powerful and I am honored with the task of sharing them. God loves writers. He has used them throughout time to write His message. I want to be His messenger and feel His words course through my fingers.

What a sweet post! Love that you crashed the father/daughter dance and scored some pics. Your daughter is beautiful! It sure sounds like you raised caring, talented young lady. This inspired me.

Lovely! And I love the concept of writing while praying – that would definitely gives one’s words a good direction!
