Five Minute Friday: Visit Each Other in Love

 It is that time of the week again when I join a flash mob of writers who link up with Lisa Jo Baker for a writing exercise of fellowship and friendship. The rules are simple. Write for 5 minutes on a one-word prompt provided by Lisa Jo at her website. Then link up with the hop here.  After linking up, you must comment on the bloggers’ posts before and after yours to provide encouragement.

Why I participate is simple. I love the fellowship and find reading other women’s blogs on the one-word prompt so inspiring and hopeful. I really encourage you to join us.

This week’s prompt: Visit

The last visit with my adopted grandmother was sad. Had I known it would be the very last time seeing her, I would have done things so, so differently.  I would not have gone out at night to the local scene even though it was Spring Break in Florida.

I would have instead stayed with her and played cards and listened to her stories one more time.  I also would have witnessed to her again to have some security in my heart that she really knew the Lord.

I was so young and selfish.  I wish I had gone back and visited again. She was such a wonderful, smart lady.  She was short and fiesty at 82.  She died in the 1990s, and I never saw her again.

Visiting is something that we all need to do. We are especially admonished by scripture to visit the sick, the elderly, and those in jail.  We are to bring them the Gospel of love and truth. Just imagine if you were to visit someone every week and put in on your schedule. Do you know an elderly person who needs extra love and attention?  Go see them.  Or visit the jail and encourage those inside that God loves them despite their past.

You could bring eternal change to their life and ensure that their home at death will be with our Christ and Lord.
