I am going to go back in time virtually today as I meander around the blogosphere and introduce newer hops and join my old favorite ones.
Most Fridays, I always join Lisa Jo Baker’s Five Minute Friday party. I am one of hundreds who come together to write for five minutes on one word that she chooses. This week she has a guest host for the party: Crystal Stine.
The rules remain the same however. You write five minutes on the selected word and this week, you will head to Ms. Stine’s page and link up with the other bloggers participating. The one major rule to read the bloggers’ post near you and leave encouraging comments.

We belong to one another. Lyrics in mind from an old Pat Benatar. She has a wonderful voice. Her song is simple. But it brings a great question. Who do we belong too? We belong to each other as Christian women. We belong to our spouses. We belong to our children.
But can we honestly say, we belong to Him? How do we ensure that we belong to Him? My pastor asks this question during his altar calls every week. “If you were to die today are sure where your eternal home will be: heaven or hell?
If you don’t honestly know the answer to that question then chances are good that you don’t belong to Him. It is simple really, but so hard to understand all at the same time. Who is God? Who is Jesus? Why do we need to belong to Him? It is more than a question of heaven or hell really.
It is a question on choosing life, love, and hope. That is who Jesus is. He is three in one: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He brought life as the Father; as the Son, he performed the ultimate example of Love. Then His Holy Spirit came down to bring hope and continue His message.We don’t have to live defeated in our pasts. We don’t have to let evil decisions rule us and keep us trapped in a vicious cycle of loss. We can belong to Him and He can change us.
If you don’t belong to Him, I encourage you to stop right now and pray this simple prayer:
“Dear Jesus, I don’t belong to you because of a marred past and bad decisions. I want to belong to you. I want your hope, your love, and the life that you want for me. Please forgive me and accept me into your family so that I belong to you forever.”
You can belong to Him today. He is waiting on you now.

I’m so glad you included the Pat Benatar song: I was going to go find it once you mentioned it. I heard someone say once, “If you don’t believe in Heaven, you ain’t going there.” I can truly say I belong to Him. My children belong to me and ultimately I hope to Him, too. He’s the only one I serve and I do that by serving my children in Biblical ways.
Stopping by as your neighbor in the link-up. For me, as a single lady with no children, reflecting on the fact that I belong to Jesus can take on an even bigger dimension because I don’t belong to a spouse or children. It can be overwhelming to think that when my parents pass on, there will be no one on earth to whom I deeply belong (I’m also an only child). But it can also drive me to find rest in belonging to Jesus. Thanks for sharing!
