Five Minute Friday: Laundry

Five Minute Friday
Theme: Laundry
What is Five Minute Friday sponsored by Lisa Jo Baker? It is a place of inspiration. A place to come together as Christian bloggers to write for five minutes on a simple word. Then to encounter others thoughts on the same word by linking up with her weekly blog community. The rules are simple write for five minutes on a word with no backtracking or edits. Just pure let your fingers fly. Then link up your post and comment on those bloggers’ posts just before yours and after yours.

Theme: Laundry

9:07 a.m.

It can pile up on with smelly consequences. Dirty and unwashed it just lingers. Laundry lists everyday that you want to accomplish.  Clean mind and clean heart. We want to approach life simply like fresh linen.  We put the dirty thing in, and when it finishes the cycle, it comes out fresh. We have to wait on the cycle or the clothes get hung up and mildewed.  Laundry, am I talking about life or something more intrinsic?

We have to live each day with routines, but even the most mundane routines bring inspiration and beauty. A pile of stinky towels when put through a process can come out comforting. Like us. When we allow God to put us through His cycles, trusting that He knows the best methods and detergents, to make us come out on the other side: clean, pure, and lovely.

9:12 a.m. stop

Finish the Sentence Friday

“The best part of my day is…”

Morning, I sit at my computer contemplating more than just laundry or to do lists. I meditate on God and His direction for my life. Where am I headed? Who does He want me to reach out to?  How do I point others to His truths, His glories?

Psalm 88:14
But I cry out to you, LORD; in the morning my prayer comes before you.

Theme: 2013 Projects

What projects do I want to complete in the last three months of 2013?  I have a few in mind for my blog. November will sweep in with a lot of activity. I am geared up to take part in the Write Nonfiction in November Month long challenge.  I introduced my participation in this challenge on my Wednesday post about my mother’s influence in my life as a writer and educator. I want to inspire a shift in parents’ and grandparents’ thoughts in their role as teacher, instructor, and learning guide in their children’s lives. We inspire legacy thinking when we see how God wants to use us to train our children in our lives iin ways from which they will never depart. These precious gifts are on loan to us. We have potential to raise an Einstein or a Mother Theresa. This thinking focuses not on self but moves deeper into seed planting, community building, and widening spheres of love and blessings. I hope you join me on November 1.

Of the chores that never end, laundry and dishes… I tell you what, I won’t miss doing laundry for five people when we’re back down to two–although that’s forever away.

I love the life lesson you pulled out of this. I’ll be thinking about this as I fold mounds of wash this afternoon. =) Thanks.

That is such a great analogy of laundry being like what God does to us too. Thanks for sharing, visiting from 5MF!
