Five Minute Friday: Hero

January 31, 2014 By Mary Hill 5 Comments

Five Minute Friday It is that time again.  Time to come together as writers, women, and followers of Christ. Time to share five minutes writing on a one-word prompt provided by author and blogger Lisa Jo Baker. This challenge has been going on for four years. I joined just over six months ago.  To say that it has made my Fridays special is an understatement. It has drawn me closer to a community of women and to God.

You can participate too. Write for five minutes on this week’s topic: hero. Then link up here . The other major rule is that you must comment on the bloggers’ posts before and after yours with words of encouragement and Christian love.

So here is my post for the week on the word hero.

9:50 a.m.

We are human and being a hero to anyone is almost impossible. I would love to be a hero to my daughter and my loved ones.  But my humaness (is that a word?) gets in the way.  I always mess things up.

No my hero is Jesus. I don’t want to be anyone’s hero because I am not perfect like Jesus.  He walked this earth just to sacrifice Himself and die.  I have difficulty giving up my coffee or tea in the morning if it is the last cup in the house much less sacrifice and die for anyone.

Can you imagine the day when Christ cried blood in the garden because He knew the agony that He was about to suffer for me and for you. I can’t begin to comprehend all that He has done for me.

9:55

The perfect song for today’s word. I hope you enjoy.

I love that we were on the same wavelength as well! There really is no better example for a hero than Jesus.
That’s who I’m trying to model my “hero-ness” after.
    Thanks for sharing this.

Oh, yes! Love that we were on the same wavelength.
Jesus is just the perfect embodiment of what a hero is, even when it looks different.
I want Him to inform the way I try to be a hero.

Wow that was some deep writing. Saying you’re not perfect like Jesus and that he is your hero. I’m blown away Mary.

I love your honesty and openness. “I won’t even sacrifice the last cup of coffee nevermind my life.” I’m totally hearing you sister.
