I have racked my brain all day trying to think of the one website or blog I wish I had come up with, and I have come to one answer: none. I want to come up with my own, totally unique blog that attracts thousands, no millions of readers. Oh well, I am a long way off from that dream.
I will never reach that dream, however, if I don’t try and avoid taking the necessary risks to make it come true. Dreams and risks go hand in hand. You dare to dream, and you dare to risk.
To be a successful dreamer or risk taker, you have to jump with a parachute and swim with a life preserver. Risk taking and dreaming can lead to success when you have prepared yourself for the big jump. This phase is where I am at today.
I am in the prep-for-take-off phase. I am reading the informative articles on Blogher like Susan Getgood’s “Must Read: The FTC Clarifies Rules for Bloggers.” I have also subscribed to the Writing Bug and other blogs that feature writing tips. Additionally, I read the “how to write better” articles in the Blogging and Social Media section of Blogher. Google also has a great section “Blogger Buzz.”
Of course, the best way to learn to blog is to read blogs. I have followed, burned, blogged loved, linky-ed about 200 blogs to date. I read as many as I can a day. With the imminent closing of Google’s reader, I am still looking for one reader for all my blogs which is another learner’s goal I have made for myself. Suggestions are welcome.
I am also starting to take part in Blog hops. For a beginner, this activity is a must. The exposure to seasoned bloggers is phenomenal. In April, I am joining the A to Z Challenge.
It is going to take time, but I will get there one risk, one blog entry, and one dream at a time.
Dare to Dream or Dare to Risk?

I just wanted to stop by and say Good Luck. Blogging is a great writing tool, but I think it has a lot to do with focus. What do you want from your blog? Will it be about your life, writing, etc.? Once you know what you want out of your blog then I think you’ll truly enjoy it.
I blog for me and my faithful followers. My blog is diverse, but I don’t strive to get millions of followers. It’s like friendships. I’d rather have a few great friends than a 1000 mediocre ones.

Good luck with the challenge – I actually started a blog three years ago and it has a grand total of 3 posts, you mention things I have never heard of before, which is precisely why I am committing to this challenge too. Here we goooooo – weeeeeee
I suggest Pulse or Netvibes for Google Reader replacements. I’ve also heard good things about Feedly, but haven’t tried it.
Hi from a fellow A to Zer. I’m a retired public children’s librarian. (Yay libraries! Yay librarians!). As to the Google Reader issue, just convert to Feedly. Google it, and it’s a seamless conversion. Feedly is even prettier than GR.

Yeah just have to keep at it, we all started somewhere. Took me a while before things fell into place and now I don’t have to do much besides write posts and comment, already into june with my posts lol helps to stay far ahead.
