Dana Mentink’s Fetching Sweetness Unleashed Pack Giveaway

August 4, 2016 By Mary Hill 9 Comments

Fetching Sweetness Dana Mentink
My life can seem so boring at times. I have a big family, complete with a wonderful husband, grandchildren, teen, and two dogs though that bring joy and excitement. Plus, another love I have is reading funny and sweet books that remind me of the importance of my walk with Jesus.

Dana Mentink latest book, Fetching Sweetness, relates an endearing tale of discovery and love. She does so not in a preachy tone but with dashes of humor and quirkiness. You can read the summary below; however, my review will not encompass just a quick read this book you will love it statement. You will love it by the way.

This books made me think of other turns in my life and how just like for the two main characters life does not always go in directions we think it will. When your life choices takes you to unexpected places and you feel lost and alone, remember Jesus is not fiction. He is real and will provide you with all you need to make it through. Each situation we find ourselves in can become moments to refine us and strengthen us.

The real beauty in Mrs. Mentink’s book is that Fetching Sweetness is not a cookie-cutter or formulaic story. The characters seem real, like people you would love to befriend, and in their times of need be there to encourage them and support them.

This story is full of comedy and sweetness as the title implies, but it delves deeper and looks at heart issues and the complexity of loss and love.  It also reminds us that God is in charge. We may try our hardest to direct our lives and the lives of those we love, but if we do not blend in faith, we will find ourselves afloat alone. God, however, will always wait for us and throw in His lifeline when we are ready to call upon Him.

Have you read a story that although fiction, helps draw you closer to God?  Share your stories in the comment section.

In the meantime, here is the summary of the book and check out the giveaway below

Summary: A recipe for love and loss, merriment and mayhem, fun and faith in the backwoods of the Pacific Northwest can only be found in Fetching Sweetness by Dana Mentink. It should have been so simple for Stephanie Pink: Retrieve a reclusive author’s valuable new manuscript and be promoted to a full-fledged literary agent. But when the author’s canine companion, Sweetness, makes a break for it and Stephanie has to track Sweetness down, she meets Rhett Hastings. They’re in for a surprising string of adventures and misadventures.

About the author:

I love animals and humor and of course, God, too!
I usually only read nonfiction, as that is usually my favorite since I was about 10.
