Creative Mondays Come Alive Here: Blog Hops and Linky Parties

July 8, 2013 By Mary Hill 8 Comments

By Mary Hill

Welcome back from the holiday. I hope that you were lucky enough to travel and spend time with your family. My family had time at home last week. I also spent last week involved in the Summer Lovin Read-a-thon. I enjoyed my down time reading. Now back to business as I start at new week.

I have mined the Internet again for Blog Hops that can challenge me and make me grow as a writer, blogger, mom, and lover of God. Thanks to some really great, veteran bloggers, I was able to find directories for blog hops and linky parties.

Camille at A Sorta Fairytale has a great directory:

clairejustineoxox   Clarie at http://www.clairejustineoxox.com also has a great bloghop library which is organized by theme: crafters, fashionistas, recipes, and no rules hops.  It is a great resource.

So from this exploration, I came up with four really great hops for Monday that I think fit my niche as a creative writer and blogger.

http://www.fantasticallyaverage.com/p/5-for-five.html

In this blog hop, which is also sponsored by Jenn at Party for One, you are supposed to set five obtainable goals for the week and blog about them.  The next week you review about how you did on your prior week’s goals and then set five more goals for the new week.  Ok, my first week starts now, so here are my first five goals:

  1. Write poetry for the Creative Mondays and Inspire Me with Joy blog hops. (I will do this below).  My ultimate goal is to write my first complete book of poetry. My poems that I feature on my blog are my first draft.
  2. Explore publishing venues for my poems and submit at least one poem to a literary magazine.
  3. Work toward growing my blog audience and also work on an ultimate blogging plan and mission.
  4. Spend time with family and create a family exercise program.
  5. Continue working on my creative writing projects which includes a novel in progress.

a look at a different kind of eternity
by mary hill

winds flow through the waving textiles
hung out to dry
upon the stove, the sauce bubbles
the stuff of motherhood
juggling cries and miscues
roaming the skies like a crazed hen
looking for the little chicks to gather in
protection, correction, loving
sometimes losing our way in the heat of the day
perfection is a dream, stuff of legend
i feel a tug at my sleeve,
a daughter, a son reaching toward the sky
reaching toward eternity

now i share another favorite poem of mine which touches upon feelings moms get when they are doing laundry.

Your Clothes

BY JUDITH KROLL

Of course they are empty shells, without hope of animation.
Of course they are artifacts.

Even if my sister and I should wear some,
or if we give others away,

they will always be your clothes without you,
as we will always be your daughters without you.

Source: Poetry (March 2000).
My inspirational scripture for busy moms:

Jeremiah 31:16-17

King James Version (KJV)
16 Thus saith the Lord; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the Lord; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.
17 And there is hope in thine end, saith the Lord, that thy children shall come again to their own border.

Love your poem, Mary! And I’m making note of the recommended hops so I can join in the fun after we’ve moved and I have time to enjoy. 😉 Have a great week! 🙂
