Creative Mary-anderings for June 28: My Five Minute Friday Blog Hop

June 28, 2013 By Mary Hill 9 Comments

By Mary Hill

I hope I am not breaking all kinds of blogging rules here, but I have to participate. I found some excellent, creative hops for Fridays.  I could not decide on which one to participate in, so I am going to do all of them as part of the ConversionDiary 7 Quick Takes Friday Blog Hop.  Let’s see what I can come up with this week as I think about the end of June 2013.

I am waiting patiently for 12:01 a.m. Friday, June 28 to strike so I  write for five minutes on the weekly prompt, in between. Oh, so much fun.

I am sitting here and joining a little late. I fell asleep awaiting tonight’s prompt.  So now I type about the word “in between.” What does it mean to me?  It is 12:36 a.m. Friday, June 28.  The last Friday in June this year.  We are sitting in between the end of June and the beginning of July.  A few weeks ago, Spring came upon us with a whisper.  We have not even been that hot in the South which for our area is very unusal.  I will take the nice weather over the sticky, hot temperatures that will come upon us soon.

Isn’t like a human being, who is nervous and trying something new to talk about wheather.  It is a common trait for alll of us.  When we have these mundane conversations, we are usually in between doing something for ourselves or running errands.  We don’t have time to get close.  We don’t want to get too personal, so we talk about the safe things like weather.  We are in between being strangers and acquaintances at this point.  How do we move from the in between state to more than acquaintances to friends?  It takes risks to step out of our in between state into something new and better.  We can move forward to healing and faith, from in between to lack of trust to beyond.

We are in between realities and in between helping others. We are in between faith and light.  But we need to move beyond in between into the light of God’s wonderful truths.  He will direct us and lead us to wholeness and from the in between.
It is now 12:51. Times up.

Friendship Friday at Create With JoyThis week’s theme is so appropriate as we start thinking about our favorite summer holiday, Independence Day.  The theme is vacations.  I love vacations, especially the ones where we have planned nothing major.  One year, we rented a nice condo for four days in Beaufort, SC.  We did absolutely nothing the whole time, just took time out from our normal busy lives.  We relaxed at the beach; by the poolside; and on golf carts that we were allowed to use for free.  We rode through the quiet streets and took in the scenery which included two lazy aligators sunning themselves by one of the many ponds. They didn’t even flinch as we rode by nervously.  Our vacation plans for this year are in flux. Hopefully, we will decide on something soon.
What about you?  What vacation plans do you have, and do you have a recent, memorable vacation you want to share?   Go to Create With Joy to join the hop and share. It is so much fun!

Finish the Sentence Friday Finish this Sentence Friday is on holiday and will be back on July 11; so what am I to do?  Perhaps,  I will finish my own sentence.

I love the Fourth of July because ……

I love the Fourth of July because of the beautiful fireworks, the cookouts, the family time, and the sparklers.  Why do you love the Indepenence Day?

Happy Fourth of July to our regular host of Finish this Sentence Friday:  Janine’s Confessions of a Mommyaholic. I so enjoy this blog hop everyweek.  If you haven’t joined it, I would. It is so much fun, and I have made some great connections. πŸ™‚

I am still reading    Lisa Scottoline’s Don’t Go. My heart is breaking as the war hero comes home to bury his young wife and has to leave his infant girl behind with family as he returns to the Afghanistan.  I have been so busy, I read about a chapter a day.  This book is so poetic though while at the same time suspenseful with a mystery lurking in the background.

Just reading Josie’s Thursday post swept away all my worries and put me in a place of total relaxation. The poem was lovely and the picture was perfect.

This was a fun read from start to finish, and I was delighted that you mentioned my blog post The Swing. It was written quickly over lunch hour during a busy office day when I so wanted to be home in a swing curled up with a good book! Ahhh, a girl can only dream! πŸ™‚ If you like cats you’d enjoy Feline Friday, and there’s also Awwww…Monday where you share any photo that makes you go awwww. A lot of cute critters show up there too! Then on Tuesday I do Two Shoes Tuesday which is writing prompt to give people the inspiration to practice their creative writing skills. Did you read the piece I wrote about my favorite tree this week? πŸ™‚ The Five Minute Friday blog hop you participated in sounds like great fun… if only I could be up then and not too tired for work on Friday! I love the concept, it’s creative! Six Word Saturday and Sunday Scribblings are great places to meet more people too! You can find the links to all of the above on my side bar. Hope to see you drop by often, I’m adding you to my reader list now, I like the friendly welcome you have going here! πŸ™‚

Wow, you’ve been busy! We’re neighbors on Five minute Friday. Isn’t interesting that being caught in between a new day, a new month or any new Adventure causes anxiety? thanks for sharing your thoughts!!

4th of July for us usually means my dad’s big family party. cousins, aunts, uncles, siblings, nieces, nephews, grandparents, all head to my dad’s for a big, loads of fun, get-together. Unfortunately, we’re going to have to miss it this year. We also take a week’s vacation with a family (This will be our 11th year) a different location each year, in which we rent a house together. Swimming and relaxing are top activities on the agenda each year. Unfortunately, the vacation has to be over the 4th weekend, so no party for us.
Very true, your “in between”. We fill that time with talk of the weather and other mundane things.
You are so sweet to link my anniversary post. I’m glad you liked it. I enjoyed going through the photos and taking a little trip into the wonderful memories.
I don’t know of any more Friday hops (you know all the same ones I know) but I know of a fantastic Saturday one! πŸ™‚
