It is Five Minute Friday time again. I lurked at the #FMFParty tonight and just watched the ladies type chat. It was fun. Some Friday’s I participate while others I just wait for the word of the week.
If you are new to my blog, Five Minute Friday is a hop where bloggers come together to spend five minutes in a mass writing party. First, we have a Twitter party and catch up while waiting for the Five Minute Friday founder Lisa-Jo Baker to post the word for the week. Then we type madly for five minutes on that one word: whatever comes to mind with no backtracking or editing, just our pure words hitting the screen.
Then we go over to Lisa-Jo Baker’s site to link up with the hundreds of other bloggers who write on the one word prompt. It is all about community and love because the other major rule is that we must comment on the blog posts before and after ours in the linkup. We can comment on as many others as like too to.
This week’s prompt: choose
12 p.m.
Did I choose my path and where I am now. Yes, but no. There are so many unseen things that sneak up on us as mothers. We don’t choose our children. God delivers them too us as special packages of love and beauty.
We don’t choose their faults, their shortcomings as we didn’t choose our own. We all have them, the hiccups, these things that hold us back. We have the pride, the jealousy, the hurtful attitudes.
We can choose to overlook each other’s shortcomings and commune in love.
Where am I going with my meaderings tonight? I am choosing my words as they flash on the screen like I choose my actions for the day. I sometimes don’t have time to second guess my choices or actions. I have to move ahead at a break neck speed, hoping I was a good friend, a good mother, and a good wife. Hoping I set the example by my choices.
Choose this day whom you will serve. I want to serve Christ in my motherhood so that my daughter’s faults don’t lead to life choices she will regret.
I choose love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance. I choose to live a life that points to Christ who died for me.
What do you choose today? Can I introduce you to Him. He is waiting for you.

Yes, sometimes, it’s a break-neck speed life… living like a batter at a pitching machine… swing, swing, swing. No time to pause and ponder, just hit the ball, already! Whew! But there really is time for the thousand little choices, like Mel said. So thankful to be reminded, yet again. Blessings…
Hi Mary, I’m so happy to meet you! Thank you for sharing and for following me, too. How fun! Don’t know how good I’ll be at the FMF, but today, my first stab at it has been such a blessing, because of finding all of you!
I know what you mean about moving at break-neck speed… sometimes, I feel like a batter, hitting off the pitching machine… swing, swing, swing… No time to think or pause, just hit the ball! 🙂 Many blessings to you and your family, C
So much of what you shared mirrors something I read last night…that our lives are made up of a thousand little choices. My prayer is that I’ll make the ones that will honor Him. 🙂 Thank you for this! Blessings and happy weekend to you!
I’m impressed you can write such a deep thoughtful post in a five minute free write. I feel like I ponder too long in what words to choose to use to convey my thoughts. This sounds like a fun community activity though.

Mary,
what a wonderful contrast between what we don’t choose and what we can…like our attitude…choosing love and all the other fruit of the Spirit with you today 🙂
