Budget Battles: Republican Congress1, Obama 0?

Right before the Easter holidays, the Senate and Congress took a two-week Easter break. When they return, the budget battles will begin again. In the meantime, the country is still dealing with the fallout from the budget sequester battle.

Now Fox, a very conservative news agency, is beginning to sound the alarm bells that President Obama had already rung. A recent Fox news article points to the impact the sequester will have on our brave servicemen returning from serving our country. Because of the cuts, many young men and women will now be denied the opportunity to further their college education. A program that gave servicemen and women $4,500 to attend college annually is on the chopping block and all major service branches have said they will not accept new applications for the program effective April 1. 

A program for homeless veterans also is endangered.because of the cuts. Thousands of homeless veterans will not receive housing vouchers now. Additionally more than 33,000 veterans are not going to receive job training assistance because of cuts to VETS job-training program which is administered by the Department of Labor.Meanwhile corporations will remain untouched by the sequester cuts. Big weapons producer will not feel the pinch. Programs to develop weapons systems have remained untouched because of the pull of powerful lobbyist influence.
