Boxes Sometimes Can be Magical?

August 13, 2013 By Mary Hill 11 Comments

By Mary Hill

The woman had found the seemingly, plain brown box on her doorstep.  At first when she opened it, it was empty.

“Rats,” she thought. “Why couldn’t it have been a million dollars?”

She closed it up and walked away. Later, she returned to the box to throw it away and as she turned it upside down to toss it in the recycle bin, a single dollar fell to the floor. “What?” she thought.

Then hundreds, upon hundreds of dollars started to come out and seemed to get caught in an up draft. Dollars suddenly swooped out of the once empty box and filled the room.

Overwhelmed and surprised, the woman started to gather up the funds. “I should have wished for a million in big bills.”

What would you wish for if you got an empty, magic box?

Gosh, now that IS a special box! I like Patricia’s idea and Georges and as for me today I would ask for everybody to be happy. Sounds daft I know but what would the world look like if we we all truly happy…I’d like to take a look, for sure. The money side is tempting as boy do I need money but I think the happiness outweighs it as deep down I know money doesn’t bring happiness but it does pay the bills!!!Great story!!

people may consider me stupid but I would wish for health and peace for everyone.
I would probably get the million sooner as money is easier to find than health and peace.

I would want millions! Haha! But, I already have a list on how to spend them because I already dreamt of being rich when I was younger and which foundation gets a share ;o)

Hi, the woman did not know when she first got the box that it was a magical box. She discovered the magic by accident. She thought it was just an empty box and was going to throw it away.

    🙂

Without thinking I would ask for the million…but if I was smart enough to think first I think I would say just enough of everything I need.

Mary, I just love the concept of a magic box… what a creative way to use the prompt!!! I know that I would be delighted to have a room filled with swirling money, even if I did have to count and stack it myself, but I am wondering what else I might like to wish for inside a box… maybe an offer from a publisher to publish my stories so I could retire from the daily grind and sit at home and write! 🙂 Thank you so much for a really fun TST post, you’ve brightened up my day just imagining along with you! Watch for a new creative writing blog hop coming on Thursday! :-))

I know. I want to find a publisher too, but then he/she would have to wait until I fine tuned my stories. They are always in flux. 😉

I do like the idea of the bucks but I also think I would have to go with Bohemian B. and request the wisdom as well….I would want to do some good with it.

That’s my kind of box indeed. I’m going to go check all my empty boxes right now. I loved this.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺
