Book Review: Hidden Agenda

We do not get to choose our families or parents. What would you do if you found out that your father was an infamous drug cartel leader who had people killed and was responsible for the largest trafficking of drugs into America from Central America?

Olivia Hamilton finds out this truth in alarming way. Her younger brother witnessed the brutal slaying of an undercover federal agent, and a second undercover narcotics officer from Atlanta is about to lose his life too. Olivia had only minutes to decide and chooses to save Michael Hunt’s life by taking him off her father’s estate in secret.

Now, both she and her brother are on the run from her father’s thugs with Michael who is barely conscious after a severe beating. Olivia is a Christian and knows she has made the right decision, but she is terrified for brother and herself. Will they be able to outrun the cartel thugs who mercilessly assassinate all those who betray them?  What will happen to the Michael Hunt who has a list of troubles of his own including the facts that everyone he loves thinks he is dead and that he is also now the lead suspect in the death of the federal agent murdered minutes before he was rescued by Olivia. The agent was also one of his  closest friends. To make matters even worse, he doesn’t know who he can trust because some of his fellow officers in the Atlanta Police Department are also on the cartel payroll.

I enjoyed Hidden Agenda written by award winning author Lisa Harris. This is the third in her Southern Crime series.  I only had one section that I did not enjoy because I had not read the first books in the series which I now have to go back and read. The one section,  however, did not detract from the overall excitement of this story which was very fast paced. Plus, I enjoyed the romance that is beginning to develop between the Michael and Olivia. Will it grow despite the fact that Olivia’s father wants him dead? I think we need a sequel. 🙂
