Written by Kathleen Long Bostrom, this beautiful book includes poetic verses describing the Easter Story in a way a young child can comprehend.
Easter Stories and Prayers (Little Blessings) is a rich book full of poetic verses written to help your young child understand real story of Easter. The beautifully, rhymed verses make the Easter story truly beautiful.
“I see on the wall
From the place where I sit.
A very large cross
and it scares me a bit
The crosses we see —
both the large and the small —
Remind us that Christ
gave his life for us all.”
I love the simple and beautiful illustration drawn by Elena Kucharik.
The book takes us beyond the Easter story and gives parents simple prayers to share with the children every night during any season.
I especially loved this simple prayer:
“Dear Jesus, please show me,
for I want to see
The ways you’re the same
and yet different from me.
I’d like to know what
you were like as boy
Did you have a favorite
story or toy?”
Such a simple message to help children relate to the fact that Jesus came as a baby and lived an entire life from boyhood to the time of His ministry.
The book is divided into easy to read sections:
- Why is There a Cross?
- Who is Jesus?
- What is Prayer?
- What About Heaven
It is perfect for homeschoolers and can be used for kindergarten through second graders in daily lessons or can be used during family devotion time. I think older children will love it too. I highly recommend this book for Easter baskets!
