When I first started my old Mary-andering Among the Pages, I meant it to be a part of my main blog. I was such a newbie, I could not figure out how to go about this until about a month ago. WordPress makes it easier with their Categories and Tags.
Every Monday, I am going to focus on something literary related. Posts will include anything from a simple list of books that I plan to read for the week, book reviews, tips for parents on getting their children to read or writing or reading related activities for families, children, and young adults.
This week, I still have about 20 books on my dining room table that I got as gifts during Allume. They have moved from place to place in my dining room and living room but have not found a shelf home yet, because I am out of shelf room. I have to get these gems read and reviewed.
I took about half of them to create my reading stack for the next two weeks:
They make such a pretty stack don’t they. Here is the exact title list:
- Breathing Room by Leeana Tankersley
- Every Bitter Thing is Sweet by Sara Hagerty
- Atlas Girl by Emily T. Wierenga
- Longing for More by Timothy Willard
- What Happens When Women Say Yes to God by Lysa Terkeurst
- The Love Dare for Parents by Stephen and Alex Kendrick
- The 20th Cristmas by Andrea Rodgers
- Hope for the Weary Mom: Let God Meet You in the Mess by Stacey Thacker and Brooke McGlothlin
Book Spine Poetry
I used to participate in these fun book-related festivals or hops my first year of blogging. Almost always on the second or third day, the organizers would have participants stack their books and take pictures of the spines like I have above to create a “Book Spine Poem.” I loved this bit of spontaneous creativity.
My book spine poem above reads:
Breathing Room
Hope for the Weary Mom
Longing for More
Every Bitter Thing Sweet
What Happens When Women Say Yes to God
Here is my second “book spine poem” arrangement:
Hope for the Weary Mom
Longing for More
Breathing Room
Look What Happens When Women Say Yes to God
The Love Dare for Parents
Do you have a big stack of books you are reading? Are you up for a little creativity? Arrange your stack into several spine poems and take pictures of them and blog about it. Come back anytime this week and link up your “Spine Poems” in the comments section. Are you can just leave your own spine poems in the comments. I would love to read them. Hope you will join in.
Thanks.
This post is written for It’s Monday! What are you reading? a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys and Jen Vincent over at Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee Moye from Unleashing Readers YA version of It’s Monday! What are You Reading?

A lot of these book titles sound intriguing! I am such a book worm over here as well that I have stacks all over our house, lol…just can’t get enough of them 🙂
Thanks so much for sharing this at our link up! Hope you come back again this week, Rachael @ Diamonds in the Rough
Thank you for posting on Motivation Monday!
What an awesome bounty of books you have shared Mary! I have read a few – have a few in my stack I am waiting to read and review – and a few I am looking forward to reading your reviews on! 🙂
Love your Book Spine Poetry as well. Need to make a mental note to do that with my books. Mine are currently sitting in random stacks on my desk (which my cats REALLY don’t appreciate!)
Just followed you on Instagram and hope you’ll connect with me as well!
Have a wonderful weekend – come join us for Friendship Friday! 🙂
What a great pile of books! I think you are going to have a very inspirational few weeks with those reads. 🙂
Thanks Lindsey for stopping by. I really appreciate the support. Yes, I have a lot of great reading to do. Just to find the time.
