#AtoZChallenge: R is for Righteousness versus S is for Sin

April 22, 2014 By Mary Hill 5 Comments

By Mary Hill

I once read that Christians use Christ as a crutch. I have read other mean comments through the years about Christ and His nonexistence. I have seen Him ridiculed and mocked. Why is Christ and Christians so hated?

People have complained that hundreds of thousands of people have died in the name of Christ. It is true. They died in inquisitions and because of the sin of twisting Christ’s true message. They died at the hands of both Protestants and Catholics, who twisted the Word of God into words of hate and intolerance. See more at: http://www.wayoflife.org/database/protestantpersecutions.html

Jesus never preached persecution and death. He was the Way, the Truth, and The Light and The path to God. Likewise, Jesus preached that the meek shall inherit the earth and blessed are the peacemakers. He said those that live by the sword will die by the sword. He called for us to seek righteousness and turn from sins of hate, intolerance, lies, lust, and murder. He died so that we could find His righteousness and flee evil.

True righteousness is Love for all mankind.  True Righteousness is loving our enemies and praying for those who persecute us. Matthew 5:44. True Righteousness is giving food to your enemy if he is hungry. Proverbs 25:21 and Romans 12:20.

If Christ’s Gospel had been practiced as He truly preached it, no inquisitions or persecutions of those who believe differently would have ever happened in history. Christ wept because of the Holocaust. He wept because of the inquisitions that occurred in His name. He wept at the evil of religious zeal in His name. He still weeps today.

At the same time, He calls all with Love to examine His words and to see the Truth in them. He call us to flee sin and ways of evil and Satan. Satan is the author of the inquisitions and persecutions. Hitler and those that followed His evil and killed the precious Jewish people are condemned. Protestants and Catholics that murdered those who disagreed with them were as evil as Hitler. I can only pray that all these evil persecutors repented of their sins in the end, but that is between God and them.

I continue in love and pray for enemies of God’s truth and love.  I pray 1 Timothy 2:4 over the whole world and all mankind.  I hope you will consider Christ today and His truth. If you are a believer, I ask: “Will you pray with me in the spirit of Matthew 18:19?”

This is my installments for “R” and “S” as part of the April A to Z Blogging Challenge.

Lovely post. If only we could all see one another through his eyes, eh? It really would be a different world. Alas, I think we must have the adversity and opposition in this life to bring out our true characters. Which side will we cling to?

I was reading today from Mark when Jesus was explaining to His disciples that he must die and be raised the third day. Peter even rebuked Jesus for saying things like that. They just did not understand. Those who ridicule Jesus and Christians, just have blind eyes and deaf ears to receive. Perhaps they are also full of fear that Jesus and his message is true. I will gladly join you in that prayer, Mary, what you say here is so true. We tend to cast the blame on each other, to point fingers and label groups. Those who practice their faith truly know that such evil things as war and hatred are not from our God where “Love one another” is the guiding rule. A thoughtful and sincere post, that should make us all stop and thing about how we treat others, and the things we do and say. Thank you for sharing your message at Two Shoes Tuesday today, Mary!

God “will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:4)
I am praying in agreement with you.

Whew! Praying for our enemies and those who hurt us is so hard. I often pray for the ability to see others through God’s eyes because I know it is only through his love that I can love. Thanks for linking up to Testimony Tuesday.
