Yellow and black patterns of stripes and dots

The beautiful monarch silently disappears into history
What does that say about us … humans?
I am taking risks to veer off topic for a day. I was supposed to write about a tangible item I wished I would have invented as part of the Blogher March blogging challenge. I had some ideas until I found this article. The question seemed too small. Now, I wish I could invent something that would bring the monarch butterflies back and restore them to their original population sizes. I want to invent something that would stop deforestation and stop the devastion of the monarch habitat caused by industrialized herbicide-based agriculture.
Another goal for my Monday blog was to try another bloghop. This hop is sponsored by Alex J. Cavanaugh and deals with movies. Everyone is being asked to list their top 10 favorite movies. Here are my top 10 picks:
It is kind of ironic that one of my top 10 actually has a scene with the monarch butterfly. It is a gem of a movie, Leap of Faith, with Steve Martin.

Those are some great movies! I nearly forgot about Stand By Me. I would love for my kids to see it. I also saw a news blurb about the monarch butterfly, and I was also concerned. Thanks for sharing! By the way, to answer your question on my blog, I don’t see very many butterflies in my garden. The few I’ve seen seem very tiny and fragile. We do have bees, which makes me happy.

The secret of my place is a ton of things all working as one. But the main thing is to find a core group that will comment back, keep giving new content, ie. blog posts, at a steady schedule, never sound like a drone when leaving blog comments, i.e. nice post. etc. And just do what your doing, comment back and such at your blog, make it a place people enjoy coming too. I’ve got it so I can talk about a friggin paperclip and still get 50 comments with ease haha

I hadn’t heard about the monarch butterfly but this makes me very very very sad! :~( I am always on the lookout for good bloghops where I can actually meet people. Do you do the AtoZ Challenge? (I know Alex is involved with that, too.) I found you via CreativeEveryday and I am glad I did.
I was also stumped on the Blogher NaBloPoMo prompt today. I went as far as opening a doc for it but no further.

A few of those movies I have never seen, others I haven’t seen in a long time and now I want to rewatch. Fun fact about me, I have never seen all of E.T. I was little when it came out and since it wasn’t a cartoon, it bored me so I went out and made a snowman. It was October too and we had snow early.

Oh man, Stand By Me totally should have been on my list! Always a favorite of mine. I can watch it over and over, though it became even sadder when I watched it as an adult.

I haven’t seen Leap of Faith, but judging by the rest of your list…it’s got to be great. Adding it to my to-watch.
Oh, I forgot about Stand By Me! It wouldn’t have made my top 10, but it might have gotten an honorable if I’d remembered it.

Great list, Mary! I love Benny and Joon, Forrest Gump,and Stand by Me–all very deep movies. My most favorite on your list is also super deep…Life of Pi, wow, that movie was great. I can’t wait to see it again. 🙂
