I found this little bird in the floor of the bird house, struggling. Her wing was broken and bone was exposed. I couldn’t leave her in there to suffer. I got her out and cleaned up the wound the best I could. She kept struggling and biting me. I took her into our bathroom and she tried to fly away but fell on the floor. I was so scared that she had been hurt even worse. I picked her up and calmed her the best I could, but she still struggled, squawked, and bit the fire out of my finger.
I looked at her with grief in my heart. How am I supposed to help this stubborn bird? She will not be still long enough enough for me to help her wing. Finally, I got some Neosporin on it. I put her in my makeshift bird hospital.
I later got her back out and tried again. She seem so dirty from being on the ground. I did the best I could to clean her up, but she would not be still and wait on me to doctor on her.
Is that how we are with the Lord? We want be still and wait. He promises us grace to overcome our problems, but we need patience. I was so scared my baby was going to get infected in that wing.
I checked on her today, and she is fine but still looks scraggy. Her feathers were broke off, and I don’t see any new ones coming back in yet. She is so damaged, and I have no idea how it happened. We have about 11 birds out there, and this is the first time one of them got hurt like this. I keep checking the others every day, and they are fine.
It breaks my heart to see her hurt like this. I know God must feel the same way when we are hurt because of our choices. Sometimes, He might need to isolate us for our own good so that we will heal and overcome our wounds. I know when Jesus is at work in my life after I feel beat up from trials, His administrations can seem harsh. Sometimes, I don’t even recognize it as such. I am probably like my little bird, squirming and flailing against His attempts to deliver me. At times like this, if I had known better, I would have just rested in His arms and let His grace help me overcome my current trials.

Patience is the hardest lesson to learn it seems.
PS. I cleaned the bird up again. I don’t think the wing is broken. I think it is a cut and missing feathers. She looks much better today and is climbing up to the swing in the cage and seems to be moving great.
She is doing fine. Her feathers were missing and she had a tear at the wing. I have been watching her closely. She climbs and is in otherwise great shape. I see no signs of shock or severe distress. I don’t think the doctor would do more for her than I am doing. I have been keeping birds for years now.
Poor little bird 🙁 Can you take her to a real bird hospital/doctor? I don’t think Polysporin and isolation is going to be enough to repair a broken wing.

During times of trial and illness it seems like time goes so much more slowly and it’s easy to get impatient or scared. The poor bird was probably be in a state of panic. I think we get the same way if we don’t take time to reason things out and wait on the Lord..

How sweet. Your poor little bird. I have to imagine she’s terrified, but given time she’ll come to trust you more. I’m hoping she heals up!
