1. We have started a new season in our part of the world: autumn. Mums, hay bales, and scarecrows are starting to turn up on every lawn in our town.
2. The first splash of color is beginning to hit our landscape as we enter the first week of the new season. I love the crispness in the air and the bright fiery reds, yellows, and oranges leaves that paint our trees.
3. The weekend has flown by with a lot of family activity. This morning we went to the flea market where we sold parakeets and made enough funds to enjoy a good meal and rent a movie for tonight.
4. Memories of past autumns float in my head. We used to have these Bradford pear trees in our front yard. Raking leaves and then jumping in was such a fun activity. We are going to have to volunteer to rake someone’s yard this year. Our trees were knocked down by storms in the past few years.
5. I just started decorating for the season. I will soon add hay bales and am looking for the cliche scarecrows. I can’t help it. I love autumn.
6. I lost my Cocoa last week, but I still have my oldest dog, Dobber. In dog years, he like an old man, almost 14 years old. He is spry and active for his age. I think he is going deaf though. He only responds to me now if he sees me.
7. I have a new book to add to my stack. This one is special because I won it as a prize. I still plan to review it though. Check out my new book review section to my blog site: http://maryanderingamongthepages.blogspot.com/
8. I hope to specialize in reviews of works by independent authors. If you know an author, please let them know about my site. My readership is growing weekly. 😉
9. I know why I have been so ill lately: a fix is on the way. It involves surgery in October. This illness is a nuisance, but I think my doctors have nipped in the bud before it got more serious. This year has been tough because of illnesses and medical bills, but at least, we are getting healthier and God will provide.
10. I am lucky and thankful that I have a great home in a beautiful area of upstate South Carolina. God is good. I am breathing, have food on my table, and shoes on feet. Sounds like I am about to break out into song. Yes, these are lyrics from my favorite song about thankfulness. I have posted two songs on blessing below, and I hope you will enjoy!

Love your photos. The changing leaves are beautiful, but nothing says “fall” to me like mums. I lost all of mine in the horribly hot, dry weather we had after the tornado and am working to plant more each fall. Just got some beautiful ones this weekend. We had a beautiful Bradford pear in the backyard that got taken out by an ice storm about five years ago. They are not a sturdy tree.
Hope the surgery goes well and you’ll be back to new in no time. All the pics are so pretty!
the look on your dog’s face in the photo with you, makes the whole list (for me)… there is nothing that I have experienced (personally) quite like the unconditional love that a dog shares with their humans, if they…(the humans) are lucky enough.
I hope the surgery fixes whatever the problem is, and allows you to continue life without dealing with ill health.

I’m astonished at you selling the parakeets at a flea market! Only because it’s so outside my experience! Here you’d likely need a license to sell animals, and would be required by law to ensure that their new owners would be able to adequately care for them, prior to the transaction (said assurement forming part of the licence award) – things are so different around the world, and I love learning about it.
if one can sound grateful about pending surgery you have it down pat! I hope you are feeling well soon. I too love the fall …best time of the year for temperature and color palette !
