The Word for Our Wednesday:
Song of Solomon 2:12
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.
Discovered another great hop for Wednesdays.

1. Picture postcards were first printed back in the mid-1800’s and deltiology is the official name for postcard collecting. When did you last send a postcard? Receive one? Do you save postcards sent to you? Do you collect and/or send postcards when you travel?
|
2. What treat do you most like to indulge in while on vacation? Ice cream of course. I love chocolate milk shakes.
3. Are you good at hiding your feelings? No, everyone says they can see my feelings in my face and hear them in my voice. My daughter invented a code for me: MOE (mom on the edge). When I am sad, I hide in my room and want to be alone. When I am joyous, I like to sing, joke, and play.
4. Does your town/city/county still deliver telephone books to your home? Do you check the yellow pages when searching for a local business number or has the internet replaced the phone book in your home?
Yes, we get our phone books in February every year, and we still use them occasionally. The Internet is more of our go to for information though on local phone numbers. It is faster then thumbing through the old yellow pages.
5. Would you rather be first or last? I don’t know. I guess it depends on the situation. I want to be first at restaurants. I don’t like waiting for more than 10 minutes. I want to be last when it comes to taking turns on like doing chores or dishes.
6. July is National Park and Recreation Month (in America, but everyone can still play along)…where and when were you last in a park? Did you participate in any recreational activities while you were there? We went for a picnic at our local park. We also visited a local dam last week. The dam in our region is a national park. They had to open the flood gates because are lakes are flooding because of the tremendous amounts of rain we have had this summer. We watched with a huge crowd of onlookers. The news said that the Army Corp of Engineers have never opened the flood gates on these damns. It was pretty historic.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I have meandered around my niche for months now as I try to decide what kind of blogger I want to be. Crafting and anything artsy was already off the list. I am a Christian, writer, and mother. I have found so many inspiring Christian blogs. I want to write about my faith and my love for Christ while also working toward writing novels, poetry, and creative nonfiction. I have a new blog design in the works and will be having an unveiling celebration with a give-away. More information to come shortly. 🙂

The baby birds are adorable. Post Cards aren’t really my thing. You always find fun bloghops Mary.
Love those baby birds. Too cute! I love receiving postcards especially when they’re from a different country.
Have a nice day, Mary!

Welcome to the blogging world and also the BHB Group. I believe nature is such an inspiration and I love the photos of new life that you have here. Also it is great to get to know you with your Wednesday Hodge Podge. When travel I always like to try the local cuisine. 🙂
It is nice to visit you, I’m visiting from the Hodgepodge. The pictures of the mockingbirds are so neat to see so close!
Have a great evening!

I love sending postcards to friends when I am someplace interesting. I find that on vacation I have time to slow down and send some quick notes!
Wow, that would have been fun to watch as the flood gates were opened! I like your daughter’s term, MOE too. I’m trying to figure out my niche in blogging too. It’s hard when my interests are so varied. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Now following you.
Thank you for stopping over. You are a no-reply so I couldn’t comment back. That’s how I felt with going first. Without knowing I really don’t know the answer! You have a lovely family. Blogging has been an awesome experience for me.
Thanks Debby. I hope I fixed the no-reply status. Checking now. I really appreciate your comments. 🙂
Hi-I deleted the link. I tried to correct the address myself, but I couldn’t get it to work so try adding again: ) Sorry for the technical issue!
I used to send postcards often, especially when I was working in National Parks. Both of those items on your list bring back some really powerful memories for me.
Hi-Welcome to the Hodgepodge! I wanted to let you know your link isn’t working. It looks like maybe the http is in the address twice? If you want to go in and add another link I’ll go in and delete the first one.
Great photo of the dam! I love chocolate milkshakes too, but sadly have not indulged in a milkshake in ages. Maybe my next vacation? : )
What an exciting surprise for your daughter to find! enJOYed the surprise. Thank-you for coming over to Joy’s Jots! I too am a retired teacher. I guess the reason we blog is because we can’t stop teaching?
There’s a lot to take in here Mary. I like how you are moving toward a niche. I don’t know what a hop is?
Usually on vacation breakfast is my indulge time with eggs. When home I eat raw oatmeal with fruit almost everyday so an egg can be pretty darn tasty.
Love the pictures of the baby birds.. I too love indulging in ice-cream when I go on a vacation. Thanks for stopping by Rachel Dominique
