A Late Thursday Poem for Magpie Tales

Up, Up and Away in My Little Blue Car

By Mary Hill

When all seems at a stop,
 You take off aloft
Balloons and an old blue car
Can carry you afar
Across valleys and
Through canyon passages
But alas how do you end the trip?
Where are the brakes on this?
How do you come down
Once you have floated high above the ground?

Are you lost in the blue car carried away by the balloons?
At least you have escaped all the buffoons.
Who would latch on in attempt to throw you down
Bring you down, and sap you of who you are.

I just found this little thematic hop that lasts all week long. Each week award-winning poet, Tess Kincaid, posts an image for writers to use as prompt for an original story or poem.  It sounds like fun so I decided to join. The image goes up each Sunday at http://magpietales.blogspot.com .  Then you have all week to respond and link with your original creation.  Hope you enjoyed.

Such fun, will have to check it out the challenge.

Enjoyed your poem, imaginative and freeing, yet still based on the reality of how easy our happiness is lost with just a tiny pin prick!

I love this. I have let buffoons bust my balloons far too often!

I love this poem. It gives me the impression of letting it all go and following my dreams. Thought there will be people who try to bring me down, I know I can fly with my car and balloons.
