A Fall Full of 10 Things of Thankful

October 5, 2013 By Mary Hill 23 Comments

Secret Obsession

First, before I move on to my 10 Things of Thankful, I have to make a pit stop at the October Daily Blogging Challenge sponsored by Mary at SECRET OBSESSION. Today’s prompt is:

 If I had a _________, I would __________.

I have a quick and simple answer. If I had a professional camera, I could write creative nonfiction and poetry based on my photographs. I take pictures now with an old-point-and-shot digital camera. Occasionally, I get to borrow my mom’s Cannon digital camera, and the pictures are so much better.

Now on to 10 Things of Thankful.

Ten Things of Thankful

1. I am thankful to my wonderful sister for a great new header for Mary-andering Among the Pages.

Mary-andering Among The Pages
2.  Even without the help and great header, I would still be so thankful for her. She is a great sister,  Ruth Ventrello. God made sisters for special reasons. He made us to aggravate one another; to steal each others best blouses; and to fight over combs. Well, those are my fond memories of growing up with my sister.

3.  Seriously though, she is a wonderful, accomplished mother, pastor’s wife, and close friend.  She is also a talented art instructor for children. She earned her bachelor’s degree in art illustration from the University of Georgia and a fine arts master’s degree from Bob Jones University.

4.  I would also be very thankful to all those who took the time to go over and join her website at:  http://rventrello.wordpress.com/
She is a blogger newbie, but I am trying to help her get established. Lylas Ruth. πŸ™‚

5.  I tried to find an inspirational video about sisters, and the love we have for each other.  I searched for an hour, but I could only find this sister’s group whose songs are so inspirational. They call themselves simply: Sisters. I am so thankful for songs that are so uplifting.

5.  I am thankful for the wonderful fall we are having in the southern United States.

6.   My husband surprised me with our annual fall decorations tonight.

7.  I am thankful that even though I have just a point-and-shoot camera, I still can sometimes frame a good picture. I love taking pictures.

I caught this bee up as close as I could get without getting stung because he buzzed me after the flash went off.

8.  I am thankful that so far my fall seems to be going great, and I have had great feedback from folks on my posts this week including my first sponsored post. By the way, I took these pictures for this post too with my old point-and-shoot digital camera.

9.  I am thankful for the opportunities I will have this weekend to spend time with family and my husband.  I have joined a special challenge regarding husbands for the month of October sponsored by Serving Joyfully.  I am failing miserably. For instance today I did not :

Day 2: Greet your husband with a smile when he gets home from work.
β€œA glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed.” –Proverbs 15:13 (ESV)
Thank God for grace. Hopefully, God will allow me tomorrow to try again.

10.  I am so thankful that I have had another day to love, cherish, explore, take photographs, and spend with my family.   Now on to my weekend. God Bless. πŸ™‚

It’s hard to get a good photo of a bee! I tried a few weeks ago to get one of a bumblebee, to no avail. Good job!

I’m loving the new headers! Point and shoot cameras can be very handy and take great shots, as yours illustrates. As for the big cameras, they do take great photos, but they can be a big pain to carry around. I always carried a point and shoot in my purse to grab impromptu photos. (Now I just use my phone.)
I’m on my way over to check out your sister’s blog now!

Love the new header! (I’m a cat person, so I probably love it even more just because of that!) Your pictures are terrific – I love it when a picture turns out looking very artistic and all I really did was point and shoot!

Mary, I love your new header and will try to stop by in a few minutes to say hi to your sister. So very nice of her to do this for you and as I always tell my two little girls it is all about “sisters helping sister!”

Fantastic! Looks like you’ve got a lot of wonderful things going on at the moment. The fall decorations are a lot of fun, and it’s great that you’ve had so many nice opportunities to use your camera.

YAY! For sisters. I have one, and she’s amazing. I always liked the song ‘Sisters’ from White Christmas. Do you know it?

Funny, even though I’m sure we have different sisters, mine, too, is very annoying! It’s amazing how she can be that way, isn’t it?! The Lord’s mercies are new and fresh every morning, so you will get another chance to greet your husband. They say practice makes perfect. //////////////hope you have a gret week full of southern sunshine!
