A Day to Be Thankful for Family, School, and Community

Ten Things of Thankful

It is a quiet Saturday evening at my local coffee shop, and I am blissfully happy that I am late for an important date. I stress to have my list up every Saturday at the crack of dawn. I want to share so much every week because when Saturday rolls around, I have so much to be thankful for that I can’t keep it to a mere list of 10 things, but here goes.
A sheriff’s deputy with his canine officer at our local parenting resource and wellness fair.
1.  The reason I am late is because I have had a Friday and Saturday filled with family, school, and community activities.
My daughter and her friend at the game.
2.  Our small town 2A school football team whooped up on a big regional 3A school last night at an away game.  We won 35 to 20.   The game did not get underway until the end of the third quarter when it was still 0 to 0.

My granddaughter and I have fun in a small train at the wellness event.

3.  We went to a special community event today for parenting, health, and wellness.  We took our oldest grandchild and my daughter.

4.  From the event, I came home and filled up two to three pages of brainstorming ideas for future blog posts and a series.
5.  My granddaughter made me a beautiful bookmark. I wanted to scan it and post it, but alas, it got sent to her house. ๐Ÿ™  I told mom that I want it back because she made it for me.

6.  I mentioned it yesterday but in case you did not see the post:
http://mary-anderingcreatively.blogspot.com/2013/08/a-friday-full-of-hops-come-explore-and.html . These little bunnies were featured in a big blog hop and have now been seen everywhere on the blogosphere.
7.   I mentioned that my daughter received her reading medallion for completing the summer reading  program. She came home with an even bigger honor after school yesterday.  She had her PASS scores for fourth grade. PASS is our state’s assessment exam for students. She tested in writing, reading, social studies, science, and math and received exemplary marks on all five sections. I would have been a proud mama if she had received exemplary on just one section. Now I have to turn sideways to get through doors. LOL
8. I live in a small town and rural community with all of the great benefits of a major city: three coffee shops within 15 miles of each other; three major theatre and opera houses; and beautiful and state of the art museums.  I love art exibits and one of our museums has a toddler program. Guess where grandmama is taking her oldest granddaughter Wednesday?
9.  Also, another reason I mention this is because I will have lots of fodder for future blog posts this fall. I have plenty to write about. My problem is that I need to try to come up with a plan.

10. I am streamlining Meandering-Creatively. I created a sister blog for my book reviews and creative literary meanderings. It is going to be part of the main Mary-andering. I am not doing any extra work just trying to find a better way to organize things. Here is the link to the sister page:  http://maryanderingamongthepages.blogspot.com/  You can also link to it on my tab links at the top of my page. ๐Ÿ™‚

11.  I woke up on another Saturday morning to reflect on 10 things that make me so thankful.

love those bunnies and congrats to your daughter! I hope the swelling in your head does not become too cumbersome! Ive found that as long as you can still go sideways through doors its likely to be okay!

I am right there with you on wanting to post first thing on Saturday morning…and start reading the other blogs! I am always disappointed when I can get my post up but have no time time to read everyone else in the hop until later! (Such as today is the first time I have had a chance to read anyone else’s from the week-end!)

Thanks so much for sharing…and what a great idea about organizing. I’ll have to check out your link!

Great list – it reminds me that school is around the corner. I’m excited but the kids are not, lol. I love that you set up in your coffee shop to make out your list. It’s tough for me to do this on the weekends but I have gotten in the habit this summer of making tea, grabbing the laptop and sitting out on the porch. My own little coffee shop ๐Ÿ™‚

Small town lifestyle combined with big-city perks–sounds great! I love museums, and ones with children’s programs are so nice. Have fun with your granddaughter!

Hi Mary! Well, bless your creative, thankful heart. I love to read about what you’ve been doing, and then the fact that you are so thankful for the activities..perfect. What a witness to your faith and love of the life you have been given.

Fun plans for writing! That is something to be grateful for, as I often have to really think a lot about what to write. Wonderful. And I loved the picture of you and your granddaughter. What can be better?

    Happy Sunday!

    hi Mary!

(Through my clever manipulation of lists, I am here first! Yes, I started today’s ’rounds’ at the end of the list, rather than the beginning!*) which means I get to be the first Comment**

I was taken by the ‘small town thing’ in your Post.
You have presented such a clear image of life in a smaller town! A couple of the others have been writing along these lines, Dyanne and Christine, for instance. (Being scotts, I can easily imagine them being recognized and greeted by *everyone* in their towns.)
But your use of pictures has added that extra element (to your list), very cool.
Well, gotta go for now… Wakefield Video Brunch coming up …hey! ‘stop in’ if you get a chance! love to have you join us!

*not a surprise to anyone, given the …er nature of my own TToT lists lol
** probably not such a mature thing, but I get a kick out of being the ‘First Comment’ that honor usually goes to Lizzi (or Janine who is the Mistress of Commentation in these parts!)

You had a packed week. Congrats on your granddaughter’s PASS scores, not living in a town like Beautiful Creature’s (book) Gatlin and having a full life with events, writing, beautiful grand babies and more. You two look so cute on that train. (Continue to) Enjoy your weekend Mary.

There’s no such thing as late for this bloghop! (Unless, of course, you try to link it on Monday.)
Visiting with family is a great reason to post later in the day.
Sounds like you have a lot coming up with the blog! Can’t wait to see it.
